Take time to be still and listen

Today I took a walk.
I haven't done that for awhile.

I heard the crickets chirping, children laughing together at the neighbor's house, the wind rustling through the corn.
I saw two horses grazing in the pasture, swishing flies away with their tails. I saw a grassy lane and butterflies dancing in the gentle breeze.
It was so peaceful.
Sometimes we are so busy that we don't take the time to just sit and "be still" and "listen." I haven't been lately. I feel like I am so busy, but then at the end of the day I ask myself, "Did I really accomplish anything today?" I waste a lot of my time on the computer playing games, looking at blogs, or browsing Pinterest when I could be doing so many important things like reading my Bible or accomplishing projects.
So, today, I decided to get away from the computer and get some fresh air and enjoying God's beautiful creation. I am so glad I did! It was so relaxing + refreshing! It was a perfectly gorgeous fall day!

Please pray for me as I try to use my time wisely and honor God with my days.

Are you struggling with something similar? If so, get away from whatever it is that is wasting your precious time -- go outside. take a walk. meditate in His Word. Ask Jesus for help in whatever you are struggling with. If you care to share, I'd love to hear about it so I can pray for you!
. . .
This is the day. This is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made. We will rejoice. We will rejoice and be glad in it. And be glad in it! This is the day that the Lord hath made! We will rejoice and be glad in it! This is the day. This is the day that the LORD hath made.

PSALM 37:4 + 5
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy ways unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

  1. I went on a hike today with friends..I totally agree with you. I actually decided this week (and more I hope) to put away all fiction books and just read my Bible! It is really awesome! It has been helpful to me to keep my Bible open, otherwise I don't think I would open it. :) What are some helpful tips for you? Thank you for the encouraging post, and, I just realized you have music on your blog..I'm totally going to keep your blog open all the time! :D

    1. Hey Julia!
Thanks for your comment and sweet words! Good for you! This morning I got up a little earlier and just read my Bible (longer then I normally do) for devotions and it was such a good start to my day! Normally I get up late and have to rush to get down for breakfast. So glad I took the time this morning!!

As for tips, in what area do you mean? :)

      Glad you enjoy my music!!

  2. Hi Tashia,
I am super busy this year with school. I agree, we all need to spend more time in the Bible. I love taking walks. Please pray for me that I slow down a little bit so I can spend more time with Jesus. Thanks for this awesome blog post!!!

  4. Love this post! Walks have been such a help to me lately....they help me focus on God and prayer. Your post made me think of Psalm 46:10 ~ "Be still, and know that I am God..." I have been trying to read more of my Bible and meditate on His Word. It's been such a huge help in my life to be seeking Him more.
Thanks for the post (and I am with you... I can waste a lot of time too!)
    Rebekah :)
P.S. Julia and Tashia.... I LOVE the music too! I sometimes keep your blog open just for the music!!

  6. Tashia,

Love, love, love your post!!!! Walks are definitely one of my most favorite things. I really wish I could take more of them, but we live in an area that is not so safe :/
But I have also found that early mornings are the best for devotions. The rest of my family is still asleep and I get to spend time with God. I have been doing a morning and evening devotion plan. It really helps get the focus that He's the first thought you have in the morning, and the last before you go to sleep. It has been a tremendous blessing to me!
I will pray for you! But please pray for me too ;) I agree that we all need to step back from the business of life and be more ready to hear His voice when He speaks.
By the way, I love visiting your blog! It really helps me to challenge myself, and I'm tremendously thankful for your friendship!! =)

    Love,
    Emma
